Third Party iFrame Google Ads Conversion Tracking Through GTM

Rioja Limousine, a private black car service in Chicago, IL, was looking to track conversions through their Google Ads campaigns. The problem was the conversions were taking place within a third-party Limo Anywhere iframe.

We created a solution in Google Tag Manager for Rioja Limousine that allowed for iframe cross domain tracking that relied on creating a parent and a child setup wherein conversion action on the child iframe is passed on to the parent setup via a ‘listener’ code. Once the parent setup received a conversion via the listener code, this was marked as a conversion.

This clean solution led to correct identification of conversions in Google Ads platform as well as in Google Analytics 4.
